Simple & Quick Egg Roast


I usually never run out of eggs and spices. When racing against time a last minute recipe is this quick egg roast. Quickest egg roast you can think of, provided you have boiled and peeled eggs on hand. ๐Ÿ™‚

Halve 2 boiled eggs. Drizzle 2 tsps oil in a pan, add a pinch of turmeric pwd, pinch of methi pwd, pinch of cumin pwd, pinch of coriander pwd, 1/4 tsp red chilli pwd and salt to taste. Place the halved boiled eggs, cut-side down, cook on low flame for 3 mts. Turn over and cook for another mt. Turn off heat. Serve warm.

Play around with the spices of your choice. Pepper pwd, garam masala pwd and kasuri methi also go well with this roast.

    Alright, a little bit about me. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Used to work for the Govt for a while. Took a break to be a full time mother to my 7 year old son. Other than taking care of my home and family, I am associated with a missionary organization that works closely with the hearing impaired. I have been trained by them to counsel and help people going through difficult situations in life. I also design clothes and have a karigar at home (right now he is in on a big break from work and is expected next month) who works on my designs especially traditional kid wear. Maybe if I was working (a very demanding job), I wouldn’t be able to do what I am doing now. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I am clear on my priorities, reasonably organized, focused on what ever I do and try to give my best. I don’t always give my 100% but most of the time I try to. One thing I have learned that I like to share with you is when you spend time to make others happy without any expectations, happiness will never leave you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    i also give talimpu/tadka to this which includes urad dal and sometimes chana dal.the dals give a nice crunch to it.hit with my friends.

    My mom used to prepare something similar every Saturday for lunch. It seemed a treat for us after our half day school. This lunch with the dal & rice served hot, along with the egg fry, would give us a kick start to enjoy our “school se chutti” (holiday) ahead. Looking at this pic, I just went on a flash back to my childhood days.

    My husband is as much a non-vegetarian as I am a strict vegetarian … I do make some non veg items but must admit am just an amateur,,,Never heard of this roast..will certainly try ,, Thank You..And btw while I was doing my Inter in Vikas Residential, Guntur, once in a week, they served boiled egg and it was light brown in colour..I never had one, being a veggie, but I asked my friends who ate as to why the colour…They said they fry doesnt look like a ‘bajji’..i thought they dipped eggs in a light besan batter and fried them as i could see a thin layer..but that always remained a mystery to me…any idea,,, Sailaja?

    I don’t think they used besan. I have no idea what that brown layer could be. Sometimes, when eggs are fried in oil, it develops a brown shade.

    when i fry the eggs i sprinkle the masala powders on the egg halves directly and it never gave a proper taste. i think putting them in the oil is good. shall try soon.
    enjoyed seeing the embroidery works on the sarees in suvastra. these days dont get to see ur new designs in suvastra. waiting for them…….

    Luv this recipe. I was just wondering why you are not updating suvastra, it has been more than a year is it not? Being a mother of a 9 month old, I am interested in kids clothes, how about online shopping of those which you design?

    Not updating because my karigar is away since a few months to his hometown in Bihar. He is expected next month and hopefully there should some updates on Suvastra in the near future. I am working towards my own label in kids clothes, Sarita. God willing! ๐Ÿ™‚

    i hav a dbt sailu….
    is it necessary to add salt on top of the eggs??

    Just season with salt, add with rest of spices.
