Summer Salads ~ Spicy Mango Salad
With an abundant supply of mangoes at home, I find myself making a lot of salads with ripe mangoes. It was fruit chaat the other day and today I made a simple mango salad - ripe mango chunks, finely chopped onions and fresh coriander, tossed together in a dressing of lime-red chilli flakes-olive oil.
I served it chilled so that the flavors mingle well. An explosion of intense fresh flavors, both sweet and hot.
Ripe Mango Salad Recipe
Preparation: 5 mts, chilling time: 20 mts
Serves 3-4 persons

1 1/2 cups ripe mango cubes
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 tsp lemon juice
red chilli flakes for seasoning or pepper
pinch of salt
1 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
1 Combine all the above ingredients and serve chilled.

Hi Sailum the salad looks beautiful.I have never tried making a salad with ripe mangoes,but looking at your recipe,I think I will try this tonight.I agree,beautiful explosion of flavours.
We make make Salasa here.Yesterday,we got some rope mangoes(From Mexico usually) bcos it smelled so good.When we cut it to eat,it was very stringy,had to floss!!Hope Prez’s deal with Indian mangoes materializes faster!:D

Looks great, This is pretty much like Mango Salsa if you add a little bit of white vinegar and cilantro.
We got our first ever Indian mangoes in our local stores this weekend.

Ah,we would call this a mango salsa! I love salsas and mango salsa in particular. It the West it is usually paired with roasted duck, grilled fish or shrimp

Wow! Ripe mango salad. You always surpise us with the most innovative recipes. Going to try it immediately. In fact, right now, the favourite are mango recipes - mango sandesh, raw mango sherbet - and still another favourite is a spicy pulav enhanced with ripe mango slices.
