Crumbled Paneer – Green Peas Subzi

Its raining cats and dogs and you can’t step out of your home to pick up some fresh vegetables from the farmer’s market. So what does one do in a situation like this, with hardly any vegetables and yes, NO onions and a small lump of paneer sitting in your refrigerator? Make a crumbled paneer subzi.

Scrambled paneer and green peas curry

I was lucky to have some frozen green peas, tomatoes and even some fresh coriander. So made a jhat-pat subzi with crumbled paneer without the usual onion-spice base i.e no-onion, no-garlic stuff – saatvic khana that is a good and flavorful and can easily be passed off as a party main course entree. This delightful paneer sabzi with a standard North Indian flair is extremely easy and quick to prepare. You can create your own variations with different vegetables and spice it up to suit your palate. Whatever you do, please do garnish with lots of fresh coriander for that finishing touch.:) Serve with rotis or pita for a nutritious quick meal.

A clever thing to do, to prepare dishes with the few things left in our fridge.

You see, great cooks know what to do with the little they have, especially when it’s raining cats and dogs on the outside :)

  • Vinita

I do see some onions though..

Vinita, the pictures I have put up were taken when I prepared the subzi a few days ago (hence the left over paneer:)) when I used onion and there was good enough natural light to take an image. When I prepared the sabji again, this time round without the onions, I didn’t take the pictures due to bad light (dull, rainy day), so had to put up the image taken earlier. I guess I should have mentioned in my post to avoid the confusion.:) I prefer the recipe without onions though.

    Hi! Sailu,
When I saw the Sakshi Paper today I saw the pics of your Paneer Mutter Sabzi submitted by a nutritionist regular of Sakshi Paper.
I knew they were your pics, but then when I verified the recipe, that too was copied exactly including the note at the bottom.

So that is really bad from a publishing house to do that.. with out giving due credit to you.
