Vegetable Patties Recipe – Vegetable Burger

Print version of Vegetable Patties Recipe – Vegetable Burger

Posting my son’s favorite vegetable patti based burger. Its healthy, very tasty and easy to make as well. You can use this pattie as a filling for the burger and eat it just as a pattie/cutlet.

Mix together one mashed boiled potato, one mashed boiled carrot, 1/2 tsp of white pepper pwd (you can use black pepper as well or chopped green chillis), 1 tbsp of grated cheese, salt to taste, 1 tbsp of bread crumbs (I used powdered rusks as it has a nice flavor). (You can use any vegetable of your choice. Sometimes I add chopped palak (spinach) too.

Mix well and make the shape of a pattie. Make a bigger patty if you are using it to make a burger. Heat a non-stick pan and add 1 tsp oil and shallow fry the pattis.

Fry well on both sides till they turn golden brown.

For the burger:
Slice a bun (for a burger) and slightly toast it. Spread tomato ketchup on the toasted side of the bun and place the vegetable patti on it. Now place thin onion, tomato and cucumber slices over it. (You can use mayonnaise also)

    Hi Sailaja,

Today I tried your veg. buger. It came out good. My husband enjoyed it. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. Not only this… Whatever I try from your site it comes out good.

But for this burger I am not able to fry the patties directly on the griddle. It became tough for me to toss the patty. So I kept it in oven for some time and then I fried it.

Once again thank you so much.

Hello, I have a query if you can help me with it, when ever i make veg patty it becomes very soft can you help me with it.

    Thanks.

Try adding a few bread slices and reduce potatoes.

hey shailu, can you please tell how to make the patties crispy? Mine gets soft and i like to make it crispy like the ones we eat out.

    • http://sailusfood.com Sailu

Add more bread crumbs and reduce the quantity of potato. The vegetable patties will be crisp when roasted on a hot tawa drizzled with oil. Once cold they become soft. To make them crisp, bake in oven for 3-4 mts when required.

That looks like a great recipe. Can you cook it in a toaster oven?

    Sailu,

I tried this recipe yesterday and it came out very well… everyone at home really enjoyed it. I didn’t have any breadcrumbs at home.. so i powdered some garlic flavored croutons that i had and that worked well.
I love your website and all your recipes. I too am originally from Vizag and your recipes take me back home!!!

    Thanks,
    Priya

Your welcome. You can freeze them, Priya.

These are excellent. I had mine on a whole wheat English muffin with English mustard and fresh cilantro. Yummy. Thanks so much!
